“Ashes, ashes we all fall down! Ha ha” . as children we loved to fall in play, but no longer. What happens now in a split second can take months to rehab and incur a serious set back to performing activities of daily life.
Let’s take a look at an obscure probable cause of a fall……poor balance from an old sprained ankle.
Sprained ankles typically do not return to full range of motion and strength because of the laying down of fascia which clumps and twists. These clumps are known as adhesions and must be broken down to free the sprain site. If left untreated, weight bearing and irregular gait ensues causing imbalance.
Modifying for an impaired ankle can affect alignment of knee, hip, spine and neck resulting in muscle strain and/or pain.
Moreover, balance and retrieval are seriously affected and increase the risk of falling.
Ikier Wellness Center has successfully restored many ankles to normal function using an advanced technique of myofascial release for adhesions followed by restoration of range of motion and strength and most often, gait retraining,
If you have had a sprained ankle at any time, please know that the healing was probably incomplete even though the pain subsided.
If you had a stone in your shoe, I am certain you’d remove it!
Take action, your bones matter!
